TwoUp is a motorcycle intercom app for rider and pillion: it links two iPhones directly, phone to phone, and puts your passenger’s voice in your helmet headset. No internet, no SIM, no account, no €250 box. Pair once, lock the phones away, ride.
It’s a public beta. Join it on both phones.
TwoUp ships through Apple’s TestFlight while the App Store release is being finished. The intercom only works when both iPhones have it, so do these three steps on each phone.
Before you start: both iPhones need iOS 26 or later, and Wi-Fi Aware needs an iPhone 12 or newer. Each phone also checks itself when you first open TwoUp.

Install TestFlight on both iPhones
Get Apple’s free TestFlight app from the App Store on your phone and on your passenger’s phone.

Open the link on each phone
Open the TestFlight link below on each iPhone, tap Accept, then Install. Reading this on one phone? Send the link to the other one first. TwoUp lands on the home screen like any other app.

Pair once, then ride
Open TwoUp on both phones. Now the two of you tap different buttons:

The link is the same for both phones. Reading this on a laptop? Type it into each iPhone, or send it to yourself and your passenger.
What it does for rider and pillion
- Works with your helmet headsetUse the Bluetooth headset already in your helmet, or any headset you like. Nothing new to buy or mount.
- No internet, no signal neededThe phones talk to each other directly over Wi-Fi Aware, Apple’s peer-to-peer Wi-Fi. Tunnels, mountains and roaming data stop mattering.
- Talk naturallyFull-duplex voice with echo cancellation and noise suppression. No push-to-talk, no taking turns.
- Runs with both phones lockedPut both iPhones in your pockets and forget them. The intercom keeps going until you end it.
- Pair once, reconnect every rideSet the two phones up one time. After that they find each other on their own and heal the link after a dropout.
- Mute with gloves onIf you mount the phone, one oversized button mutes and unmutes you, big enough for a riding glove, next to a connection status you can read at a glance.

Sessions are never cut short. In the free version a short spoken reminder plays in your own earpiece every 15 minutes; your passenger never hears it.
The lifetime unlock removes the reminder for the Apple Account that bought it, on every iPhone signed into it. In the same Apple Family? Family Sharing covers both riders with one purchase. Otherwise each rider’s Apple Account needs its own unlock. No subscription, ever.
For comparison, a pair of dedicated motorcycle intercom units costs €190 to €270. Your voice never leaves the two phones, because there is no server for it to leave to, and the app is open source, so you don’t have to take our word for it.
Questions riders ask
Does TwoUp work without internet or cell signal?
Yes. The two iPhones connect directly over Wi-Fi Aware, Apple’s peer-to-peer Wi-Fi in iOS 26. No router, no SIM, no server. Tunnels, mountain passes and riding abroad without roaming all work.
Which iPhones does it work on?
Both phones need iOS 26 or later and Wi-Fi Aware, which Apple supports on iPhone 12 and newer. Each phone tells you at first launch if it can’t do it.
Does it work with my Cardo or Sena headset?
Yes, as long as your iPhone can use the headset for phone calls. TwoUp uses the hands-free profile, so the helmet’s boom mic picks up your voice. Ordinary Bluetooth earbuds work too.
How far does it reach?
It is built for rider and pillion on one motorcycle. The link is Wi-Fi range, so the bike next to you at a traffic light may work, a convoy won’t. Open-road range hasn’t been measured yet; tell us what you see.
Can I listen to music at the same time?
Not while a session runs. Over a Bluetooth headset the intercom holds the voice link, which blocks high-quality music, so music pauses and comes back when you end the session. Navigation prompts haven’t been tested yet; tell us what your navigation app does. A phone call or Siri on one phone pauses only that side; the link stays up.
Is TwoUp free?
Yes, with no time limit. The free version plays a short reminder in your own earpiece every 15 minutes. A €9.99 lifetime unlock removes it for your Apple Account, and Family Sharing covers both riders with one purchase. No subscription.
Does it work with Android?
No. Both phones have to be iPhones. Wi-Fi Aware exists on Android, but TwoUp is iPhone-only.
Is TwoUp a Cardo or Sena alternative?
For rider and pillion on one bike, yes. Cardo and Sena sell dedicated units at €190 to €270 a pair, with their own speakers and mics. TwoUp uses the phones and headsets you already have. It won’t join a mesh group ride.
